    Physical intervention training for security professionals


    The Maybo physical intervention programme for the security industry is approved for use with the new SIA Licence linked qualifications. This means trainers successfully completing the Maybo PI 5 day tutor training course achieve a level 3 qualification in the Delivery of Physical Intervention Training.

    Which qualifications are available following Maybo training?

    The Maybo training programme is available to all SIA approved awarding bodies and their centres. This covers City & Guilds, Edexcel, NOCN, BIIAB and others.
    For end users the level 2 will be available from June.

    How will tutors attain the level 3 qualification with Maybo?

    1. The new qualification will be integrated within the  course as soon as the qualification becomes available.

    2. The level 3 (trainer) qualification will be available as soon as an approved awarding body can bring this to market, probably in late April. Trainers that have trained with Maybo (and may complete the course before the qualifications are available), and who hold Skills for Security PI Trainer certification, will not need to complete the level 3 award until August 2011. They will also be able to apply for the new level 3 qualification without having to attend another train the trainer course.

    Trainer certification: Trainers are accredited to deliver physical intervention by Skills for Security and undertake their choice of national qualifications in physical intervention during the 5 day course (Edexcel, NOCN or City & Guilds, L2 and L3 qualifications respectively). The course covers safer skills to avoid assault, disengage and hold and escort/eject individuals. It delivers comprehensive knowledge surrounding the legal and medical implications of restraint and how to reduce risk.

    Staff Certification: Staff that successfully complete this training receive the BIIAB Alivering this programme are qualification centres with NOCN and Edexcel.

    After organisations and tutors are approved and tutors are assessed using the qualification criteria of one of the SIA approved awarding bodies. They are then given access to Maybo's secure web-based system for managing delegate registrations and workbooks.
